The Warmth in Winter

1st January 2026

The warmth in winter
Does not come
From the air outside
Nor from the wind that blows
Like some great polar beast

The warmth in winter
Comes from fire
And from the love
Of families that gather
To game and to feast

The warmth in winter
Can be found
In the truth of a babe
Born in a stable
While wise men took a journey from the east

The warmth in winter
Is found in you
The choice to give
And to serve where you can
Becoming for others this seasons priest

So let warmth in winter
Begin with your hands
A light in the darkness
A heart that keeps giving
Even to those seen by many as the least
